Pre filtering.
The purpose of Sieves & Vortexes in the filrtration chain is to remove larger waste and solid particles prior to the final stages of the main filter. This invariably puts less stress on the main filteration and allows it to do it's job.
All filtration methods will benefit from pre filtering whether Pressure type (Bubble Beads / Sand filters) or the multi bay type which often have a vortex included as the first chamber. Please see our Multi-Bay department.

 The Compact Sieve is a 250 micron pump fed screen filter.
The sieve is an ideal addition to a skimmer return to remove fine waste material and give the water a polish, alternatively can precede any pump fed filter or a waterfall. Please not the unit must be mounted above water level.
To clean simply lift the black inlet box, remover the screen and hose any accumulated debris off.

 This unique and patented system allows the water to flow through hundreds of razor sharp triangular blades which are mounted.
The water runs against the sharp side of the blade where the surface tension of the water is broken. The dirt particle, wheter sinking or floating is pushed away from the sieve due to the Hydrostatic load created, this causes the solids to be lifted out of the water.
The dirt from the water is then moved to the base of the sieve where there is no water running and can be removed easily. This dirt can not pollute the water anymore by dissolving.
This system will work superbly in the place of vortexes and especially brush chambers. Both of the filters mentioned are absolutely not necessary anymore, and it is even better to remove them completely.
