Cartridge Filters of this type are generally used for final water polishing. A typical installation might be as below
They work on the "clarification process." utilizing the debris they collect as an aid to improve filtration. As a result, cleaning too often does not allow the filter to work at optimum filtration efficiency, while not cleaning often enough will shorten the life of a cartridge element.
Cleaning Frequency
When using a pressure pump this would be determined by the differential pressure method. (Pressure drop accross the filter).
When using with low pressure pumps such as Aquamax or Sequence possibly in a return from a Nexus or similar, the pressure differential method in determining cleaning frequency cannot be used. Therefore a reduction in flow will be the only indication of the cartridge element becoming blocked and subsequent cleaning necessary.
CLEANING
Cleaning is relatively simple by hosing down. This is best carried out as soon as possible after removing.
Important do not allow the pleated filter to dry out prior to cleaning

The Cartridge Filter utilises a specially treated polyester fabric, which is pleated into a cartridge.
The pleating gives it an extremely large surface area. It is ideal for pools where backwashing may not be practical, cleaning simply involves lifting out the cartridge and rinsing it.

| Hidro Clean Cartridge Filters |
 Hidro Clean mechanical cartridge filters offer pressurized, pump-fed mechanical filtration to a particle size of 105 microns. They are ideal for use as a pre-filter to pump-fed bio-filters to remove solids before they are able to foul the biological media.
This is the standard unit without stand please see below if a stand is required
Hidro Clean units are designed to be easy to maintain. Cleaning the cartridge requires no special chemicals or tools. Settled debris within the cartridge can be flushed out by installing a drain valve (not supplied) to one of the two outlets at the base of the filter body.
The cartridge itself can be cleaned using a standard hosepipe. The cartridge is removed from the filter body and the central cap unscrewed. The cartridge can then be cleaned simply by applying water pressure which causes the filter ring to turn on the central axis. Dirt and other trapped debris is washed away quickly and easily. No special tools or chemicals are required.
Optional pressure gauges (not supplied) can be fitted to the inlet and outlet ports of the filter to allow the operator to observe when the cartridge needs to be cleaned.
Suitable for Koi Ponds
Hidro Clean Cartridge Filters are easy to use and maintain and are ideal for use with Koi ponds, offering a more cost effective and compact alternative to a sand filter. The Hidro Clean Filter should be positioned after the pump and before the UV filter (if fitted) and can be used as a "polishing" tool. Hidro Clean Filters are suitable for flow rates of up to 40m3 per hour but can be manifolded together if higher flow rates are required.

A Stand is required on which to mount the Hidroclean to support the weight, and also is ideal to help with the installation as the outlet pipe from the Hidroclean is at the bottom of the unit and the specially designed stand has the outlet provision and also has the Internally Threaded White ABS 2" Union as part of the stand and this simply screws onto the base threads of the Hidroclean and then the connection pipework can be attached to the outlet on the stand and continue on its return journey taking water back to the pond. |
